Empowering Local Elected Women on Safe Motherhood & Reproductive Act and Regulations
Ipas Nepal, in partnership with PASS Nepal and KIDS Nepal, conducted three sensitization events from March 25th to March 31st, 2024. In total, 68 local elected members, including elected women members, mayors, and deputy mayors from six municipalities in three districts—Pyuthan, Salyan, and Rukum-West—situated in the provinces of Karnali and Lumbini, participated.
During the event, the elected women members were oriented regarding the Right to Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health (SMRH) Act and Regulation to help prevent unsafe abortions. The participants engaged in various activities and discussed their roles and responsibilities in supporting and advocating for women’s and girls’ reproductive health rights and quality services and in reducing abortion stigma.
