Agency and Community
Empowering civil societies for safe abortion and reproductive health and rights
At Ipas Nepal, we understand that change starts with empowering civil societies. Our initiatives focus on enhancing their capacity and continuous engagement in advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Ipas Nepal works together with our partners at federal, provincial, and local levels, creating a safe and enabling environment for progressive SRHR changes. Empowered civil societies like Natural Leaders, Champions , partners and likeminded organizations have helped to reduce stigma, harmful social norms, and discrimination, fostering a community that supports SRHR and safe abortion services for everybody.
Gender Based Violence
Creating an enabling environment in combating gender-based violence
Our three-year (2021-24) project, Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response (GBV PR) Phase II, is making a significant impact with the generous support of UNFPA Nepal, and in collaboration with esteemed partners: ABC Nepal, Centre for Mental Health and Counseling (CMC) Nepal, Forum for Women, Law and Development (FWLD), Inter-Party Women’s Alliance (IPWA), Saathi, and Sancharika Samuha.
Health System Strengthening and Policy
Building a Resilient Health System and policy for Safe Abortion Services
Since 2002, we have been at the forefront of advancing safe abortion services and reproductive health rights in Nepal. At Ipas Nepal, we strive for sustainable abortion access and justice, working closely with government bodies and local communities. Aligned with our strategic frameworks and safe abortion ecosystem, Ipas Nepal is implementing a groundbreaking project aimed at ensuring lasting abortion access and reproductive justice. Through an inclusive human rights-based approach, we foster a supportive environment for high-quality safe abortion services. With Nepal’s shift to a three-level federal system, we see great potential for improved healthcare access and outcomes. Leveraging this opportunity, we engage with provincial and local governments to implement reproductive health laws and policies, securing the rights of all citizens.

Research, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
Empowering Change through Evidence-Based Advocacy
At Ipas Nepal, we believe that high-quality evidence is the cornerstone of informed decision-making. Our commitment to generating evidence for policy advocacy drives our impactful initiatives in safe abortion and family planning.
Ipas stores activity-level data and service data on TERRA, a secure, cloud-based system. This system enables us to monitor safe abortion programs, post-abortion family planning, and family planning method uptake, as well as the performance of health facilities at the grassroots level. Embracing a culture of data usage, we leverage this information to shape effective strategies. In addition to regular monitoring data, Ipas Nepal takes research seriously.
Women-led Climate Justice
Integrating climate change, gender and SRHR
While sexual and reproductive health services often remain overlooked in humanitarian relief and crisis situations, we know they are just as critical and time sensitive as food and emergency medicine. Realizing the urgent need to address climate change, Ipas Nepal initiated its work on the intersection of climate change, gender and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
