Ipas Nepal in collaboration with Family Welfare Division (FWD) and National Health Training Center (NHTC) has been continuously supporting to strengthen at or above 13 weeks safe abortion program in Nepal since 2007. A common platform is built where at or above 13 weeks safe abortion trained expertise like the Obstetric and Gynecologists and MDGPs come together for one common goal to provide the service as per the national SAS abortion guideline.
11th networking was conducted in this fiscal year in close collaboration with FWD from 25th-26th Jan 2024 where they shared their achievement and challenges and provided updates to have common understanding. 25 participants (Ob & gyn and MDGPs) from 19 hospitals spread across 14 districts of Nepal which included remote districts of Jumla, Doti amongst others. The team shared their real case stories during their services which revealed the importance and need for expansion of this service to reach the vulnerable population. The event was graced by the Directors of FWD and NHTC Dr. Bibek Kumar Lal and Dr. Anuj Bhattachan, respectively. There was intensive discussion both on programmatic and technical aspects. The two days session was facilitated by FWD, Safe motherhood focal person Dr. Gauri Shrestha Pradhan, Advocate, Mr Sabin Shrestha on legality issues, Mr. Amit Timilsina and Ms. Sipra Joshi on communication and data and overall 2 days event facilitation lead by Dr. Deeb Shrestha Dangol.
