Inception of Natural Leaders’ Basic Training

In a groundbreaking initiative, Ipas Nepal has conducted a five-day training program for 50 Natural Leaders from 14 Rural/Municipalities of Lumbini and Karnali Province. The Natural Leaders, dynamic women and young girls from marginalized communities, are gearing up for community engagement on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Women-led Climate Justice.

The intensive training provides theoretical knowledge in topics such as sex, gender, sexuality, bodily autonomy, anatomy and physiology of reproductive system, adolescent SRHR,  harmful practices, climate change, impacts of climate change on gender and SRHR, gender-based violence and women’s right. The practical reflection and stories from Natural Leaders equipped these leaders with the skills needed (such as community engagement, leadership, self-mobilization, advocacy, risk assessment and mitigation) to drive positive change on gender and SRHR within their communities. The Natural Leaders are the catalysts for the sustainable SRHR ecosystem, amplifying community voices and reshaping gender and SRHR narratives.

Ipas Nepal has so far mobilized 152 Natural Leaders in Sudurpachim, Lumbini, and Karnali Province for grassroots movement building on SRHR.
