After long engagement and advocacy from Ipas, other local CBO/NGOs and district health office, district assembly of all local body agreed and announced that Terathum district is strategically move for direction of zero unsafe abortion district in Nepal. A strategy planning meeting has been conducted on 25 September 2018 and prepared detail plan for the zero-unsafe abortion movement including strategies and detail activities to be conducted. Right now, there are 14 listed health facilities where safe abortion services are available free of cost and providing 2nd trimester abortion services in Terathum District Hospital. It is good news for women and girls especially those who live in remote areas to get quality safe abortion services free of cost in their local health facilities. Terathum district can be an example of combined commitments and initiation of district stakeholders to make zero unsafe abortion district in Nepal.
